"When you first meet Steven Caras, a rather remarkable visual aroma seems to dance around his presence." - Bruce Helander, Artist/Author

Steven Caras' exciting and versatile career began as a company member of the New York City Ballet under the watch of 20th century ballet genius *George Balanchine. Mr. Balanchine's influence would not stop there. Soon after, with his mentor's encouragement, Caras would go on to be one of the dance world's highest regarded photographers. Steven Caras' career further expanded to encompass such titles as ballet master, published author, guest lecturer, dance critic, Director of Development for both Miami City Ballet and Palm Beach Dramaworks and Founding Director of the Randolph A. Frank Prize for the Performing Arts. Inspired by his accomplishments, Emmy winning filmmaker Deborah Novak has singled Caras out as the subject of her new PBS documentary, entitled, Steven Caras: See Them Dance. National airing continues through March of 2013.

Steven Caras' diverse professional background in the arts, coupled with his innate charm and irresistible wit contribute to his success as a prominent lecturer on dance today.

Accompanied by a showing of his award winning photography, Steven Caras offers a deeply personal depiction of the life and times of a young artist which began under the vigilant eye of the ballet world's most renowned choreographer. He reveals, in intimate detail, a man's life in the world of classical ballet at a time when men pursuing ballet as a vocation did not escape unscathed. Caras' insider's perspective humanizes the world on the other side of the curtain. A world long shrouded in mystery.

"His performance background shows in his personal insights and in his palpable connection with his audience." Janet Eilber, Artistic Director, Martha Graham Center

"As an interviewer and a lecturer - he is quite fabulous. He has the uncanny ability to get to the very heart and soul of his subject." Iris Barrel Apfel, Fashion Icon

"His highly entertaining and contagious wit assures the most fun you will ever have in the company of one man." William Lee Bell, Senior Programming Director, The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
